She has been a teaching faculty in the medical colleges of Ahmedabad, Gujarat for 8 years as an Associate Professor in Surgery. She has trained several students and surgeons in Laparoscopy (Minimally Invasive Surgery). |

One of the pioneers and leaders to start and develop Laparoscopic Surgeries in Ahmedabad way back in 1992 at several hospitals of Ahmedabad including teaching medical colleges & hospitals like V. S. Hospital, Civil Hospital and Kesar SAL hospital. |

She has a special interest in Breast Diseases. She and her team of Breast Surgeons, Cancer Surgeons and Plastic Surgeons run a Breast Clinic for early detection of Breast Cancer. Surgeries like Conservative Breast Preservation Surgery for early cases of Cancer, Breast removal for cancer breast, Plastic Surgical Procedures, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery like Breast Reduction, Breast Augmentation, Breast lift etc. are done under her guidance by her and her team. |

Dr Shefali Desai, who has been a gold medalist in Gynaecology, has her team of Gynaecological surgeons who are experts on all types of gynaecological surgery like Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (uterus removal) for any size of uterus or uterine fibroids so that the patient has only key hole scars.
